Job Description

Dedicated Registered Nurse – Operation Theatre responsible for providing perioperative nursing care and supporting surgical procedures in the operating theatre. Skilled in sterile techniques, surgical assistance, patient preparation, and intraoperative monitoring. Adept at collaborating with surgeons, anesthetists, and OT staff to ensure safe, efficient, and infection-free surgical environments while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and compliance with clinical protocols.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare operation theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring sterility and readiness of equipment.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgical operations as a scrub or circulating nurse.
  • Prepare patients pre-operatively and ensure proper documentation and consent verification.
  • Maintain sterile field and strictly follow infection control protocols in OT.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and assist in intraoperative patient care.
  • Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and ensure proper sterilization and handling.
  • Coordinate with surgical and anesthesia teams for smooth workflow during procedures.
  • Maintain accurate OT records, surgical notes, and patient documentation.
  • Assist in positioning patients safely for various surgical procedures.
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments and consumables.
  • Handle emergency situations and support rapid response during surgeries.
  • Assist in post-operative care and patient transfer to recovery or ICU units.
  • Maintain inventory control of OT supplies, drugs, and surgical materials.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, OT protocols, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in audits, infection control programs, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
