Job Description

Clinical Pharmacologist is responsible for evaluating, optimizing, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within a clinical setting. The involves reviewing drug therapies, monitoring patient responses, supporting rational drug use, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to improve therapeutic outcomes.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and monitor patient drug therapy for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness.
  • Review prescriptions for potential drug interactions, contraindications, and dosage accuracy.
  • Support physicians in selecting optimal drug therapies based on evidence-based guidelines.
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and report them as per hospital protocols.
  • Participate in pharmacovigilance and medication safety programs.
  • Provide recommendations for dose adjustments based on renal, hepatic, or clinical conditions.
  • Assist in therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for critical medications.
  • Conduct medication usage reviews to promote rational drug use.
  • Collaborate with doctors, pharmacists, and nursing staff for patient care optimization.
  • Maintain documentation of clinical interventions and drug-related activities.
  • Support antibiotic stewardship programs and antimicrobial optimization efforts.
  • Educate healthcare staff on safe medication practices and new drug updates.
  • Assist in development and implementation of hospital drug formulary guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical audits and medication safety committee meetings.
  • Contribute to research, case studies, and clinical trials when required.
  • Perform additional clinical pharmacy and pharmacology-related responsibilities assigned by management or supervisors.
