Job Description

The Pharmacy Incharge - Head will be responsible for managing hospital pharmacy operations, medicine inventory, prescription dispensing workflow, stock control, purchase coordination, expiry monitoring, team supervision, and pharmacy compliance. This requires B.Pharm with pharmacy registration, strong pharmacy knowledge, inventory discipline, leadership skills, and coordination with doctors, nurses, stores, purchase, billing, and management.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily pharmacy operations, dispensing workflow, stock control, and staff activities.
  • Ensure accurate dispensing of medicines as per valid prescriptions and hospital policy.
  • Monitor medicine stock levels, reorder points, expiry dates, near-expiry items, and shortages.
  • Coordinate with purchase, stores, vendors, doctors, nurses, billing, and accounts teams.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory records, purchase entries, issue records, and stock registers.
  • Ensure proper storage of temperature-sensitive, high-alert, emergency, and controlled medicines.
  • Guide pharmacy staff on prescription verification, billing coordination, and patient counselling.
  • Conduct stock audits, physical verification, reconciliation, and expiry control activities.
  • Handle patient medicine queries, complaints, substitutions, and availability concerns professionally.
  • Prepare pharmacy MIS, consumption reports, purchase requirements, and daily operational updates.
  • Ensure pharmacy licenses, documentation, regulatory requirements, and SOP compliance.
  • Identify non-moving stock, fast-moving items, stock variance, and cost control opportunities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, labeled, and safe pharmacy storage areas.
  • Support emergency medicine availability for ICU, OT, emergency, and wards.
  • Ensure safe, ethical, and efficient hospital pharmacy service delivery.
