Endoscopy Technician

The Endoscopy Technician will be responsible for preparing endoscopy equipment, assisting doctors during procedures, maintaining scope cleaning and disinfection, patient preparation support, documentation, and infection control compliance. This requires relevant technical qualification, knowledge of endoscopy workflow, equipment handling, sterilization practices, and coordination with gastroenterologists, nurses, anesthesia, and support teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare endoscopy room, scopes, accessories, monitors, suction, oxygen, and consumables before procedures.
• Assist doctors during upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, or related procedures as per department services.
• Support patient preparation, positioning, consent checklist, and procedure readiness.
• Handle biopsy forceps, snares, injection needles, and endoscopy accessories carefully.
• Clean, disinfect, dry, store, and maintain endoscopes as per infection control protocol.
• Maintain procedure records, scope usage logs, disinfection records, and equipment documentation.
• Check equipment functionality and report any technical issue or damage promptly.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, anesthesia, CSSD, biomedical, and housekeeping teams.
• Follow PPE, biomedical waste, hand hygiene, and patient safety practices.
• Assist in emergency readiness during endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain stock of endoscopy consumables and report shortages to seniors.
• Support post-procedure room cleaning and quick turnaround.
• Ensure safe handling and transport of biopsy samples when required.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional behavior with patients.
• Support smooth, safe, and efficient endoscopy services.
