Junior Microbiologist

Job Description:

U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre is seeking for a Junior Microbiologist to join its clinical laboratory team. The candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic microbiology procedures, ensuring quality standards, and supporting infection control and clinical decision-making.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and advanced microbiological tests including bacteriology, virology, mycology, and serology
• Analyze laboratory samples and accurately interpret test results
• Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols, quality control, and NABL/NABH standards
• Maintain proper documentation of test results and laboratory records
• Assist in antimicrobial susceptibility testing and reporting
• Support hospital infection control programs and surveillance activities
• Coordinate with clinicians for timely reporting and clinical correlation
• Handle and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper sterilization practices
• Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes
• Stay updated with latest advancements in microbiology and laboratory techniques
