OT Technician is responsible for supporting operation theatre activities, preparing surgical equipment, assisting surgeons and nurses, maintaining sterile conditions, and ensuring smooth surgical workflow. The requires OT Technician Course or Diploma qualification with 3 to 8 years of experience. Candidates should have knowledge of operation theatre procedures, equipment handling, orthopedics support, cables, accessories, sterilization, and repair coordination.
Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare operation theatre before scheduled and emergency procedures.
- Arrange surgical instruments, equipment, cables, accessories, and consumables.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing teams during procedures.
- Ensure OT equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.
- Support orthopedic and general surgical procedure requirements.
- Maintain sterile environment and follow aseptic precautions inside OT.
- Coordinate with CSSD for sterilized instruments and surgical packs.
- Support patient shifting, positioning, and preparation before surgery.
- Maintain OT registers, procedure logs, and equipment usage records.
- Report equipment malfunction, repair needs, or accessory shortage to seniors.
- Clean, arrange, and prepare OT after every procedure.
- Follow infection control, biomedical waste, and surgical safety protocols.
- Maintain stock of OT consumables and report low inventory items.
- Coordinate with nursing, anesthesia, biomedical, and maintenance teams.
- Ensure disciplined, safe, and efficient operation theatre support.
