Causuality Medical Officer(CMO)

The Casualty Medical Officer (CMO) will be responsible for handling emergency and trauma cases, performing rapid assessments, initiating life-saving treatments, and coordinating with specialists for advanced care. The requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients presenting in the casualty/emergency department.
• Provide immediate medical care and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
• Diagnose and manage acute medical and surgical emergencies.
• Perform life-saving procedures such as CPR, intubation, and resuscitation.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including lab and imaging reports.
• Initiate appropriate treatment plans and administer medications.
• Coordinate with specialists for referrals and further management.
• Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges from the emergency department.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding condition and treatment.
• Ensure proper triage protocols and emergency care standards are followed.
• Handle medico-legal cases and ensure proper documentation.
• Participate in Code Blue and emergency response teams.
• Coordinate with nursing and support staff for smooth patient care.
• Ensure infection control and safety protocols in the casualty area.
• Monitor patient progress and reassess conditions regularly.
• Manage multiple cases efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH standards.
• Participate in emergency drills, audits, and training programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by hospital management.
