OT Staff Nurse

The OT Staff Nurse will be responsible for preparing the operation theatre, assisting surgeons and anesthetists during procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols. The requires strong clinical knowledge, precision, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical settings.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operation theatre for various surgical procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables are sterilized and ready for use.
• Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgical procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout operations.
• Prepare patients for surgery including positioning, draping, and pre-operative care.
• Monitor patient condition and support intraoperative care.
• Maintain accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and materials.
• Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment and report any malfunctions.
• Handle and manage surgical instruments efficiently during procedures.
• Follow infection control policies and biomedical waste management protocols.
• Coordinate with OT technicians and other staff for smooth workflow.
• Assist in emergency surgeries and critical procedures.
• Provide post-operative support and assist in patient transfer to recovery areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the OT before and after procedures.
• Ensure availability of necessary supplies and maintain inventory.
• Adhere to hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH standards.
• Participate in OT audits, quality checks, and training programs.
• Maintain professionalism, discipline, and teamwork in the OT.
• Ensure patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing management or OT Incharge.
