Job Description
The SR / Attending Consultant – Ophthalmology will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of eye conditions and vision disorders. The requires strong clinical expertise, surgical proficiency, and the ability to handle both routine and complex ophthalmic cases.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases and vision disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Perform ophthalmic surgeries such as cataract, glaucoma, and refractive procedures.
- Manage conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal disorders, and infections.
- Interpret diagnostic tests including OCT, visual field tests, and fundus imaging.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Handle emergency ophthalmic cases effectively.
- Prescribe medications and corrective lenses as required.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations regularly.
- Educate patients on eye care, hygiene, and preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.
- Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and surgical safety protocols.
- Supervise and guide junior doctors and clinical staff.
- Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, and quality improvement programs.
- Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and surgical techniques.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and ethical standards.
- Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by hospital management.
