Biomedical Engineer Job in Bengaluru at Narayana Nethralaya

Job Description

Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of ophthalmic and general biomedical equipment in an eye care hospital. The ensures that all medical devices function safely and accurately, supporting uninterrupted patient care while maintaining compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, and commission ophthalmic and general biomedical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of devices such as slit lamps, phaco machines, lasers, OCT, fundus cameras, and autorefractors.
  • Ensure calibration of all biomedical equipment and maintain accurate service records and logs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment faults and minimize downtime to ensure uninterrupted clinical services.
  • Coordinate with vendors for AMC/CMC contracts, repairs, and procurement of spare parts.
  • Support procurement and evaluation of new medical and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Train doctors, nurses, and technicians on safe and proper use of biomedical devices.
  • Maintain inventory of biomedical equipment, accessories, and spare parts.
  • Ensure compliance with biomedical safety standards and hospital policies.
  • Support internal and statutory audits including NABH accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements when required.
  • Maintain documentation related to equipment history, maintenance schedules, and service reports.
  • Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure proper utilization of biomedical equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and safety guidelines during equipment handling.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Perform additional biomedical engineering and technical support responsibilities assigned by management or supervisors.
