Job Description
Consultant Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive general medical care to patients in an eye care hospital setting. The involves conducting medical consultations, evaluating pre-operative fitness for ophthalmic surgeries, managing systemic diseases, handling medical emergencies, and supporting multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct general medical consultations for eye care patients.
- Perform pre-operative medical evaluations and provide surgical fitness clearance.
- Manage systemic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiac, and respiratory illnesses.
- Handle medical emergencies within the hospital premises effectively.
- Coordinate with ophthalmologists, anesthetists, and nursing staff for patient management.
- Monitor in-patients and post-operative medical status regularly.
- Maintain accurate medical records, clinical notes, and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and NABH standards.
- Provide guidance on systemic disease control to support ophthalmic treatment outcomes.
- Support post-operative recovery by managing medical complications when required.
- Educate patients on general health, disease prevention, and lifestyle management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical planning meetings.
- Ensure timely escalation of critical medical conditions to senior consultants.
- Support infection control and patient safety initiatives within the hospital.
- Collaborate with emergency and critical care teams for complex cases.
- Perform additional clinical and medical responsibilities assigned by management or senior consultants.
