Anethesia Technician

The Anesthesia Technician will play a vital in the perioperative care team by assisting in the preparation, maintenance, and operation of anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices. This requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments such as OTs, ICUs, and emergency departments. The candidate must ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and quality standards while supporting smooth anesthesia operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment before procedures.
• Assist anesthesiologists during administration of anesthesia and patient monitoring.
• Ensure availability of anesthesia drugs, emergency medications, and consumables.
• Check functionality of ventilators, suction apparatus, oxygen supply, and gas pipelines.
• Maintain anesthesia workstations in a clean, sterile, and ready-to-use condition.
• Assist in patient preparation before surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures under the supervision of the anesthesiologist.
• Support airway management procedures including intubation and ventilation assistance.
• Ensure proper positioning of patients during anesthesia procedures.
• Assist during emergency situations such as cardiac arrest and trauma cases.
• Handle and maintain anesthesia records and documentation accurately.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and aseptic protocols.
• Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies and coordinate timely replenishment.
• Sterilize and maintain anesthesia instruments and accessories.
• Coordinate with OT staff, surgeons, and nursing teams for smooth workflow.
• Ensure readiness of crash carts and emergency equipment at all times.
• Handle biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per guidelines.
• Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with biomedical/engineering teams.
• Assist in post-anesthesia patient transfer and recovery support.
• Follow NABH standards, OT safety protocols, and hospital policies.
• Participate in audits, quality checks, and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of narcotic and controlled medications.
• Ensure accurate documentation of equipment checks and maintenance logs.
• Work efficiently in rotational shifts including nights and emergency duties.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all clinical activities.
• Stay updated with advancements in anesthesia technology and practices.
• Participate in training sessions and emergency mock drills.
• Demonstrate teamwork, discipline, and accountability.
• Support safe and efficient perioperative patient care.
• Contribute to improving patient safety and surgical outcomes.
