Job Description
The Nursing Incharge will be responsible for supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care, managing duty rosters, maintaining nursing documentation, and ensuring high-quality clinical service in assigned hospital areas. This requires strong nursing leadership, clinical knowledge, infection control awareness, and team management skills. The candidate will ensure smooth nursing workflow, patient safety, staff discipline, and compliance with hospital nursing protocols.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and ensure safe patient care across assigned wards or departments.
- Prepare and manage nursing duty rosters, shift allocation, and staff attendance coordination.
- Monitor patient care quality, medication administration, vital recording, and nursing documentation.
- Guide nursing staff in handling admissions, discharges, transfers, emergencies, and critical cases.
- Conduct regular rounds to assess patient care, staff performance, cleanliness, and ward readiness.
- Coordinate with doctors, consultants, nursing supervisors, pharmacy, laboratory, and administration teams.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, biomedical waste, patient safety, and nursing protocols.
- Train nursing staff on clinical procedures, documentation standards, communication, and discipline.
- Handle patient and attendant concerns related to nursing care professionally.
- Monitor availability of medicines, consumables, emergency items, and equipment in nursing areas.
- Review nursing records, handover notes, incident reports, and patient safety documentation.
- Support audits, quality improvement activities, NABH preparation, and staff training programs.
- Maintain discipline, grooming, punctuality, and professional behavior among nursing staff.
- Escalate staffing concerns, clinical risks, or operational issues to senior nursing leadership.
- Promote compassionate care, teamwork, accountability, and continuous nursing improvement.
