Optometrist

The Optometrist will be responsible for performing vision assessment, refraction, eye screening, diagnostic support, spectacle prescription assistance, and patient coordination in an eye hospital setting. This requires optometry qualification, knowledge of ophthalmic instruments, patient handling skills, and attention to clinical accuracy. The candidate will support ophthalmologists in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care workflow.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform visual acuity testing, refraction, and basic eye examination.
• Conduct preliminary eye screening before ophthalmologist consultation.
• Operate ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamp, autorefractometer, tonometer, and lensometer.
• Assist in contact lens evaluation, spectacle prescription, and optical counselling.
• Support diagnostic testing for cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, and refractive cases.
• Record patient findings accurately in clinical forms or hospital software.
• Explain basic test procedures to patients and ensure comfort during examination.
• Coordinate with ophthalmologists, counsellors, optical staff, and front office teams.
• Identify urgent or abnormal findings and inform the concerned doctor promptly.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, calibration support, and readiness.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, and eye care protocols.
• Support smooth OPD flow and quality patient experience.
