Job Description
Consultant - Retina is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing retinal and vitreoretinal disorders while providing advanced ophthalmology care and surgical services. The involves conducting detailed retinal evaluations, performing retina-related procedures and surgeries, interpreting diagnostic imaging, and ensuring high standards of patient care and clinical excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage retinal and vitreoretinal diseases and disorders effectively.
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and retinal evaluations for patients.
- Perform retina-related procedures including laser treatments and intravitreal injections.
- Assist and perform vitreoretinal surgeries and advanced retinal interventions when required.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging such as OCT, Fundus Photography, and Fluorescein Angiography.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress regularly.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for retinal surgery patients.
- Coordinate with ophthalmology departments and multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient management.
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment documentation, and clinical reports.
- Counsel patients and families regarding retinal conditions, treatment options, and recovery expectations.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control standards, and ethical medical practices.
- Monitor patient safety and quality standards during clinical and surgical procedures.
- Guide and support junior doctors, optometrists, technicians, and clinical staff.
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with advancements in retina care, ophthalmic technology, and surgical techniques.
- Participate in training programs, CME activities, workshops, and academic discussions.
- Maintain professionalism, compassionate patient care, and effective communication at all times.
